Overview

Day 1-2    Cusco - Santa Rosa (Mazuko) - Inambari R. - Madre de Dios R. - Riverside Camp
From Cusco we'll take an early private van 7-8hrs to Mazuko and the small jungle town of Santa Rosa where we begin biking 6mi slightly downhill and towards the north to the Inambari River. We'll find a suitable campsite for hammock camping near the river. The following day we will inflate our boats and strap our bikes to the bows for a 6.5mi float down the Inambari River and take out at another small community on the opposite side. There, we change again from rafting to biking by deflating our boats and packing them on our bikes for another 14mi flat bike ride through jungle on an established dirt road. After 2-3 hrs we'll arrive at another major river, the Madre de Dios where we again inflate our boats and change to packrafting. We'll float the remainder of the day down this class 1-2 river until we find a nice entrance into the canopy for another night of jungle hammock camping somewhere near Boca Amigo.

Day 3-5    Madre de Dios R. - Riverside Camps - Laberinto
We'll spend the next 3 days rafting the Madre de Dios over 80mi with options for exploring oxbow lakes and natural canals until we reach the gold trading town of Laberinto. For more info on this section please see either the Boca Colorado 8D or the Laberinto 6D rafting trips. Nights hammock camping with a hostal option in Laberinto.

Day 6-9    Tambopata R. - Puerto Maldonado
This morning from Laberinto we'll bike a total of 17mi towards the south beginning with 5mi of paved road then crossing the Transamazonian Highway to a dirt road used by local miners which will take us another 12mi to the Tambopata River and Reserve. At the river we'll again change to packrafting with our bikes on our boats for a 4 day 61mi float through the park. There are various trails to explore by bike, some leading to hidden oxbow lakes such as Lake Sachavacayoc. Other oxbows are accessible from the main river such as Tres Chimbadas. As a group we'll decide on which lodges and lakes to stop at. We will float past the majority of the touristic lodges located on the Tambopata River including any points of interest advertised as tours on the internet. Hammock camping works best through this stretch. Nearing Puerto Maldonado we'll have our last bikerafting transition and pedal into Puerto Maldonado and to our hostal or bus terminal/airport.
